Agnes Normore Kavanagh
Gregrory II's third child and first daughter, Agnes, married James Kavanagh the first
Kavanagh to settle at Bell Island.1
James came from County Wexford, Ireland. Their marriage at Holy Rosary RC Church at Portugal Cove on July 4 or 6, 181345
was witnessed by Ben Squires and Anne Oates.1
- John Kavanagh was baptised on June 24, 1817 at the Basilica in St.
Johns. His sponsors were
James Simmons and Mary Oats.44 He married Catherine Shelly1 at Holy Rosary RC Church in Portugal Cove on November 19, 1855.
Sponsors were Edward Bennet and Johanna Keough.45
- James was born in 1856.1 On July 26, 1856, an entry was made in the register of the Holy Rosary RC Church at Portugal Cove that their son, James, was baptised. The family was living on Bell Isle and the sponsors were
Thomas Power and Mary Jackman.45

sponsors were William Fitzgerald and Bridget Brown.45 Agnes died in Boston, MA
on May 19, 1918.16 She married Joseph T. Furlong on November 3, 188113
in St. John's Parish, St. John's, NF. According to his death certificate, he
was born in St. John's and died in Boston, MA on December 12, 1922.17 Both
were buried in New Calvary Cemetery in Boston but there is no headstone marking the grave. While her husband arrived in Boston on the SS Austrian from Newfoundland on April 11, 1887, she didn't arrive until August 1st on the SS Worcester. He, and by default, his family, were naturalized in December 1899.
- Thomas John Furlong was born on July 2, 1881 or 1882 in St. John's, NF and was baptised by Rev. P. J. Delaney in St. John's Parish.18 His sponsors were James Cooke and Susanna Gallishaw. Tom married Almira Gertrude Kelly in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Brooklyn, NY on February 5, 1910 and died there on June 13, 1944.19 Tom's pictured above right with his son, James

- Mary Ellen Furlong was born on April 7, 188418 and baptised by Rev. W. Forristall on April 9, 1884 in St. John's Parish, St. John's, NF, too. Her sponsors were Thomas McGrath and her aunt, Mary Frances Kavanagh. She was known to later generations of the family as Aunt Nell.
Nell married a Mr. Feeley.22 Aunt Nell lived in Brooklyn, probably Ridgewood, at least from the 1930's to the 1960's and around 1935 they had grown children.22. She died in Florida in July of 1980.47
- Charles Feeley drove an army tank in World War II and lost a leg in North Africa.22
- Victor Feeley had a bar in Florida called Feeley’s on the road to Key Largo probably during the 1970’s. His cousin James passed it on a vacation once not knowing it was
Vic’s.22

- Johnny Feeley's twin died at birth. Johnny once came to Alma Furlong Gebert’s house in Baldwin as an appliance repairman. They soon realized they were cousins. Turned out he lived in nearby Bellmore.22.
- Joseph P. Furlong was born in 189420 in Boston, MA. He probably died in childhood
as no surviving adults remember him.
- Margaret 'Peg' Furlong22 was born in Newfoundland in 1887. She married William Leo Pinero22 who was a city fireman and lived their lives in Boston, MA.22
- The picture at right shows Joseph Pinero Jr.22 on the Summer Street Bridge in South Boston near the Boston fish pier on August 28, 1938. He was very tall, at least 6'3" or so.22 An electrician, Joe was born on May 5, 1918, died a bachelor on Nov. 11, 1988 and buried with his grandfather in New Calvary cemetery.
- Mary Pinero was born in 1921, married Walter J. Shea in 1942, and is still living in Boston. She and her cousin Jim Furlong were pen pals in 1941.22

- Elizabeth Frances Aunt Lil Furlong was born in February 10, 188921 in Boston, MA. Lil22 married a Mr. Frederick?? Rudiger22 and lived in Ridgewood, Brooklyn, NY until the early 1940's. After becoming a widow, Lil moved to Caldwell or Hopewell, NJ with her daughter where she died in April
1958.22, 47
- Frederick Rudiger was buried in Section 20 Plot S Row 326 at age one month on December 6, 1924 in St. Johns Cemetery, Queens, NY. The owner of the plot was listed as Frederick Rudiger.
